Recent highlights include Steven Gurney working to secure grant of key US patent protection for Pharma Mar, resulting in three new US patents which enabled Pharma Mar and its US licensee to initiate new ANDA litigation against multiple generic parties to protect its blockbuster product Zepzelca®. Gurney is appreciated for “advising on European patent prosecution and complex diligence matters, particularly involving the EPO and the UK. He has strong experience in small molecule subject matter and brings a broad perspective shaped by both in-house and private practice roles. Commercially minded and pragmatic, he provides clear analysis on technically complex issues and works effectively with litigation teams to support diligence and dispute-sensitive matters”.
A recent addition to the team, Rose Hughes joined from AstraZeneca, where she served as director of patents, bringing valuable in-house experience to the practice. “Rose provides rapid, expert IP strategy advice in cell and gene therapy, combining strong sector knowledge with the ability to quickly understand complex technologies. She brings technical depth, commercial awareness and a calm, solutions-focused approach, translating intricate scientific and patent issues into clear, actionable guidance. Rose is also noted for her expertise in pharmaceutical patent strategy and emerging AI-related issues.”
